The Incorporated Society of Musicians (ISM) has announced the appointment of David Saint as President 2018/19.
Saint will lead the UK professional body for musicians at a critical time of great change, both within the music sector and in the broader national and international context.
He is an organist, director of music at St Chad’s Cathedral, Birmingham and the former Principal of Birmingham Conservatoire.
“It is a great honour to be taking up the Presidency of the Incorporated Society of Musicians for 2018-19. As I do so, I am deeply aware both of my very distinguished predecessors in the role and of the incredibly important work undertaken by the Society on behalf of musicians and our profession,” commented Saint.
“We live in challenging times but, in meeting these challenges, the ISM is discovering new and exciting opportunities. I greatly look forward to supporting it and its excellent staff in the year ahead.”
Deborah Annetts, Chief Executive of the ISM, added: “We are delighted to welcome David Saint as ISM President 2018/19.
“The breadth of his experience as a professional performing musician, an academic, director of music and Principal of Birmingham Conservatoire makes him a perfect fit for the role of ISM President. We look forward to the year ahead.”
