Martin Guitar has introduced two new black walnut guitars to its product line at Musikmesse 2018.
The company has debuted the DE Black Walnut and the GPCE Black Walnut models at the show, offering a refreshing alternative tonewood to rosewood and mahogany.
The guitar maker said it has chosen black walnut tonewood for its “rich, warm colour and clear, bright trebles”.
“Walnut produces the perfect amount of bass, resulting in a well-balanced guitar, ideal for recording, performing, and songwriting,” said the firm.
Walnut is a great choice for those seeking a sound in between rosewood and mahogany (with a tinge of koa).
The DE Black Walnut (Dreadnought) and GPCE Black Walnut (Grand Performance) limited edition models are finished with an ambertone shaded top, come with Martin-made strings, and are equipped with premium Fishman Matrix VT Enhance electronics.
The new guitars have been announced alongside the introduction of Martin’s long-awaited banjo and mandolin strings crafted with Monel. You can read more about them here.
