Line 6 has introduced the Powercab 112 and Powercab 112 Plus active guitar speaker systems at this year’s Musikmesse.
The new models promise to deliver authentic “amp-in-the-room” look, sound, and feel when paired with any amp modeler, preamp, or amp-simulation pedal.
“Guitarists love the flexibility and tone of modelers, but many also want to keep the visceral experience, sound, and physicality of playing through an authentic guitar cabinet with a 12-inch speaker rather than plug into a P.A.,” explained Line 6 founder and co-president Marcus Ryle.
“Powercab speaker systems offer guitarists the best of all worlds: modeling technology played through an actual amp, plus a selection of several classic guitar speakers to choose from.”
Guitarists can use Flat Mode to reproduce the sound of their modeler’s presets with a wide frequency range and the punch of a real guitar speaker, or bypass their modeler’s speaker cabinet emulation and use Line 6’s new Speaker Modeling technology to swap in models of any of six classic and boutique loudspeaker drivers.
Speaker Modeling is the latest innovation from the company that first introduced amp modeling more than 20 years ago. While speaker cabinet emulation has become commonplace, Powercab 112 systems are the first to offer models of speaker drivers themselves.
Powercab 112 ($839.99 MSRP) and Powercab 112 Plus ($1119.99 MSRP) will be available worldwide in Q2 of 2018.
